Dr. Rickey R. Flournoy

About Dr. Flournoy

For the past 14 years, Dr. Rickey R. Flournoy II has worked in multiple divisions as a correctional officer at the Cook County Department of Corrections (CCDOC). A proud U.S. Army Veteran, Rickey served our country for many years as a military police officer prior to his CCDOC career. He first joined the U.S. Army in 2000 and was deployed to Iraq in 2002. In 2003 – 2004, Rickey served in both Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom and upon his return, he received the National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, in addition to other awards and accolades. He was honorably discharged from the Army in 2006.

Ricky earned his doctoral degree in educational leadership from Chicago State University and his master’s degree in urban studies from Northeastern Illinois University (NEIU), where he also earned his bachelor’s degree in justice studies and sociology. In his free time, Rickey is the Vice President of Future Hoopers of America, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to providing high quality basketball camps for disadvantaged female athletes. He also is a successful real estate broker on the side and enjoys building relationships with his clients.
